The Minnesota Veterans Home – Minneapolis is located on a peaceful, 53-acre wooded campus overlooking the Mississippi River near Minnehaha Falls. The campus contains 300 skilled nursing beds and 50 domiciliary beds in private rooms.  The Adult Day Center, one of only 2 in the country at a state veteran’s home,  located in Building 4 is a Veteran-based community that allows participants to connect with other Veterans in a safe, comfortable environment. It also provides much-needed respite – and a full array of support services – for Veterans’ caregivers.

Our legacy began in the late 1800s when, what was then called the Old Soldiers Home, was built for indigent Veterans of the Civil War. Providing care for Veterans for the past 130 years, the shift in focus to making the health care needs of Veterans Homes a primary concern began in the 1960s.

For those veterans needing long term care we welcome the veteran and the veteran’s family to consider our skilled nursing care and domiciliary as an excellent option.  Our Adult Day Center is a great place for veterans to spend a busy day, being among other veterans and around fun, caring staff.  We also welcome donations & donations of your time and energy- we have lots of opportunities for individual and group volunteers for a variety of activities!
