Minnesota Military & Veteran Exchange

Minnesota Statute 197.447 defines a Veteran as a citizen of the United States or a resident alien who has been separated under honorable conditions from any branch of the armed forces of the United States after having served on active duty for 181 consecutive days or by reason of disability incurred while serving on active duty, or who has met the minimum active duty requirement as defined by Code of Federal Regulations, title 38, section 3.12a, or who has active military service certified under section 401, Public Law 95-202. The active military service must be certified by the United States secretary of defense as active military service and a discharge under honorable conditions must be issued by the secretary. Therefore, to be eligible for any Veteran program with the State of Minnesota, you must meet the definition contained in this statute.

Purple symbolizes “joint” in the military world, meaning “all services.”

A group of providers felt unifying all of the messages and communities could go a long way in making the lives of service members, veterans, and their families and caregivers better. Project Got Your Back serving as a backbone organization decided to make sure this outcome became a reality.

MNme is not a direct assistance provider. We have an array of amazing partner organizations that serve, employ and assist our service members, veterans and family members on a daily basis. MNme is trying to encourage collective impact across Minnesota (everyone working together toward a common goal), and ensure that there is a chance for others to understand this effort.

MNme is not a part of a national organization and was built for Minnesota to fit Minnesota. We hope to inspire more collaborative work so we point you to National Veteran Intermediary to be inspired by collective impact work happening in other states. Look at our strategic alliances to understand how we are aligning to national efforts by Veterans Affairs and the Department of Defense.

Individuals and organizations from all sectors are invited to get involved. Please fill out a collaborator form. Find collaborative groups to network and connect with under Strategic Alliance.

MNme is a brand and website to message and unify MN, the project is funded by a non-profit called Veterans Small Business Foundation d/b/a Project Got Your Back.

We hope to continue to attract grant funding from organizations who are inspired by the notion that we can be far more effective and efficient if we work together. We want to be a partner with everyone and be a competitor to no one.
